Terrible Experience – Potential Scam Tactic

I would like to give this company a terrible rating. This experience has been completely unacceptable. I intend to file an official report to Klook as well as to this rental company regarding their conduct, which appears to be a deliberate attempt to claim my RM200 as an additional profit.

Upon my arrival at Langkawi International Airport to collect the rental car (vehicle registration number KV9412D), I was informed during an argument that I had allegedly caused a scratch on the vehicle’s left sliding door. However, when I returned the vehicle, they insisted on inspecting it in my presence. During this inspection, they called the owner while I was standing right there. I could clearly hear the owner say, “No, my vehicle doesn’t have this scratch,” which made me realize something was not right. Thankfully, I had recorded a video of the car before driving away from the airport, which served as evidence to protect myself. Otherwise, I would not have been able to dispute this claim.

I strongly suspect this is a tactic they use to take advantage of unsuspecting customers who may not have photographic or video proof. I later discovered another review describing the same issue, which further suggests this could be a pattern of dishonest practice.

I believe this constitutes an attempt at fraudulent misrepresentation. I will be submitting a formal complaint to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna, KPDNHEP) under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, which prohibits unfair and deceptive conduct in trade and commerce.

I strongly caution other travelers to document the vehicle thoroughly and to be vigilant when dealing with this company. They have clearly chosen the wrong customer to target this time.
