The rooms are very clean and safe! The owner is very friendly and helpful, recommending local night markets and giving us a glimpse into local life. Although the hotel is a bit far from the downtown area, it's very close to TS Duty Free, the cheapest chocolate shop. There are also many restaurants nearby, both Chinese and Malay. The owner also provided a car for self-driving around Langkawi, which was very convenient! I highly recommend this hotel!

Our group of 12 had a blast at R Hotel! Great value, clean rooms, and a perfect location near Jetty. Fun activities like island-hopping were a highlight, with a fantastic guide keeping everything smooth. Note: be prepared to pay a deposit for car rentals. Exceeded expectations – highly recommend!

They came to our university to promote their Langkawi package, and at that time, their attitude was friendly and convincing. However, after the booking was confirmed and we started communicating via WhatsApp, their attitude completely changed.

They failed to inform us about several important things, such as the difference between peak and normal seasons. For peak season, we were required to pay the full balance upfront, while for normal season, we could pay upon arrival. We only found this out after reaching Langkawi. Even before we could check into the hotel, they kept pressuring us to pay the remaining balance.

To make things worse, when we arrived at 3 PM and wanted to check in and drop our things off, the room hadn’t even been cleaned yet, and we were made to wait again. They also didn’t inform us in advance about the RM200 deposit per car and the RM2 room tax per night. These surprise charges were unprofessional and showed a complete lack of transparency.

Later that night, the room door couldn’t be opened, and we had to call the hotel staff. Shockingly, no one was at the reception counter. Two phone numbers were listed, but only one was answered. Two staff members eventually came, but neither had a spare key. The only person who did lived two hours away. We ended up waiting from night until 8 AM just to get into our room.

All our belongings were locked inside, so we couldn’t get ready or go anywhere, which completely ruined our morning plans. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. Poor communication, bad attitude, lack of professionalism, and terrible management. Definitely not recommended.

The trip was perfect! The hotel was a bit old but very clean, and the staff were super nice. Car rental was convenient, near the jetty, and the hotel location was also great.

We went there almost 2 months ago, but we were so blessed that the R hotel got power shutdown problem and we were relocated to another hotel nearby which seems 100% better than theirs.

But but but, please, your customer service staff are super rude. And we will definitely report to our university to ban you from coming in again. FYI only leaving this comment until now because another friend is there right now and got scammed by them (oops sry i shouldn’t say scam, later they scold me lol)

(Edit 5.11pm, 14/9/2025) oh ya, forgot to mention that when R group told us that we got relocated to a new hotel, they asked us to pay RM10 for parking fee (to R group, not the relocated hotel). But upon checking with the relocated hotel, they said they don’t collect parking fee. Is this a scam or not? Hmm no comment, but luckily we didn’t transfer to R group directly but check with the relocated hotel first 🫣

The rented car was so old and not maintain which causes the AC to break down and doesn't produce cold air
The place was very unsafe anyone can just walk in from the lobby and just threaten your life.
Not to mention the boss was very rude he doesn't know how to serve a customer, the worst part was he ignore all the suggestion provided and blamed customer for ignorance, but the customers was just providing suggestion for a better stay at the place. The boss speaks rudely and fiercely which was very unprofessional.
However, the counter work on the day I stayed was very diligent. The worker did not take much time to check us in and was very friendly. Hope the person could find a better job serving a better organization and the higher ups.
Hope this review can help the consumer from avoiding staying in this hotel to spoil the holiday mood and the safety of the customers.
The overall review for this hotel were extremely terrible which would not be recommended to opt for this hotel. If you are looking for a place to relax, please choose wisely as this hotel could not provide you basic needs and happiness
