We had the most incredible weekend at Sea Gypsy. I couldn’t recommend this divine resort highly enough - we fell asleep in our adorable beach huts listening to the sound of the waves, we drank fresh coconuts in the bar, we snorkelled over incredible coral reefs, we hiked through the jungle… it was a dream!
Sea Gypsy has a beautiful relaxed, down-to-earth vibe nostalgic of childhood summer holidays to the beach. I fully switched off and was able to be totally present in the moment. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, the facilities were simple but always comfortable and clean. It was up there in my top three holidays to date (and I’ve had many to choose from). Highly, HIGHLY recommend staying here if you are looking for a rejuvenating holiday 💚

Imagine a very laid back family camp set on an island retreat (with a nice bar) - Sea Gypsy is perfect for an active family who wants to swim, dive, snorkel, paddle, fish and play every manner of sport and games. Our 3 kids (age16-10) loved every minute. Family style meals made for casual, filling dining. The resort is rustic in the best sense of the word, and creates the perfect conditions to unplug, slow down and be really present. Richard, the proprietor, knows each guest by name and interest. Its clear to see why they welcome so many guests back for repeated visits. The staff at the dive shop were generous with their time and knowledge. A great value for the quality. Already our kids are plotting their return.

Room was very basic, no hot water, electricity part of the night only. We had bed bugs bites but didn’t recognize them as such and brought some back to our house. 30 more bites and 250S$ later we are rid of them.
Food was also very basic, breakfast was ok, but apart from on the Saturday when it was good, the other days we had no choice of dishes (1 meat, 1 vegetable), must have had 3 curries in 3 days. It was also very difficult to get water with our meal. When we asked the staff why they didn’t just put a water container so we can serve ourselves, they said they asked but they were not allowed to do so. So we were thirsty during most meals.
On the plus side, the staff was nice, the snorkeling trips were well worth it (there is no snorkeling off the beach).
The scenery is nice and good for the kids to roam freely. They had a very good time :).
So, apart from the bedbug experience, I would say our trip was pleasant, but not quite worth the money. It has a cheap and cheerful vibe to it while it is not that cheap, roughly 2000 S$ for 3 nights and 4 people, including transport from Singapore and everything.

We had a great wonderful 5 days at Sea Gypsy. It really feels a million miles away from the hustle bustle of Singapore but only 3 hours door to door! Food was simple and mostly local dishes, but tasty and nutritious, rooms were exactly as advertised and with the shutters open, the sea breeze kept us cool at night. As others have said, be aware there are sandflies, but as we have past experience of them, we knew to keep covered in insect repellent at all times and have returned home unscathed. The best part of a Sea Gypsy experience are the kids’ activities, and especially the staff-led fun they had every evening after dinner. The dive base staff are also amazing and were incredibly patient with my youngest child, who had trouble equalizing. All in all, a fabulous getaway- we will be back!

I highly recommend this resort for families seeking an authentic seaside getaway. It offers a wonderful connection to nature, with a wide range of activities for children, including snorkelling, diving, and arts and crafts. The rooms are furnished in a simple yet authentic traditional Malay style. It’s an ideal destination for a long weekend, easily accessible from Singapore. To keep in mind that there is no air-conditioning in the room which helps better enjoy nature with windows wide open!

Sea Gypsy Resort and Dive Base: The best it could ever be. I went here in May 2023, which was a long time ago, yet the resort was so good, I could remember every single bit of it. I came here for Grade 4 camp, and the food here was to die for. They had various ranges of traditional food to food that is very common like pasta etc. The rooms were amazing, with a cloth over the beds to trap mosquitoes out. The porch came with a awesome view of the early morning sunrise. If you want to head for a relaxing getaway with a mix of fun in the sun, Pulau Sibu's Sea Gyspy Resort is perfect for you!

Had an amazing stay at Sea Gypsy, read about the history before going and you can really tell it’s a family affair. Our 4 year old son had the best time - we literally lost him for the 4 days as he made lots of friends and loved having dinner with the other kids and the movies on an evening. We also loved playing scrabble and having adult cocktails in the bar! The snorkelling was amazing and my husband really enjoyed the trek! Will definitely return!

Ever since many years ago my brothers introduced us to the delights of Sea Gypsy Village Resort, we have come back time after time and I'm talking MANY years. It never dissapoints and often appears in my day dreams when I'm back home in Scotland 🙂 ! |It has so much to offer. But best of all is the love & care the actual place has received from the many years it has been in the hands of a most capable family, Linda and then her son Richard. The vibe is second to non, and if you enjoy unspoilt & genuinely delightful island getaway holidays, this is it. Whether family, couples or solo, it's the best place for a great break, particularly if you love nature and appreciate a hospitable and super friendly environment with great staff. |Right on the beach with a perfect breeze - we love the design and layout!
